Close watch on teachers needed too: Nahid

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Close observation should be increased not only on students but also on teachers to combate militancy, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said.

The minister made the comment at a function held at the Sylhet Education Board on Thursday noon.

Addressing as the chief guest, Nurul Islam Nahid said a quarter is very active to spread militancy in a bid to tarnish the image of the country.

Teachers will have to play a vital role to build social movement against militancy, Nahid said.

Attack on Khadiza Begum Nargis of Murari Chand College (MC College) in Sylhet on October 3 proves that female students are not safe at the educational institutions, the minister added.

He urged all to initiate social movement in order to ensure security for the female students.
