10 BNP men remanded

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: A Khulna court has placed ten leaders and activists of BNP including Koyra upazila unit president, who were arrested for allegedly holding a secret meeting in the house of Maheshwaripur union general secretary on Saturday night, on a three-day remand.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in Khulna passed the order on Monday after the accused were produced before the court, seeking a seven-day remand for them.

The arrestees were put on the remand following a sabotage case filed by Sub-Inspector Faruk of the concerned police station.

The ten BNP men who were placed on remand are-- Koyra upazila BNP president Advocate Momrejul Islam, Paikgachha upazila BNP convener Dr. Abdul Majid Gazi, Paikgachha municipal BNP president Advocate A Sattar, BNP leader Azizul Bari Helal's brother Jahidul Bari Rony, BNP leader and former UP chairman Shahadat Hossain Dablu, Kazi Habibur Rahman Ritu, Bikash Mitra, Israfil Hossain, Tajuddin Ahmed and Arif Sheikh.

They were arrested on Saturday night from a house at Choukuni village under Koyra upazila.
