10 killed in Ctg stampede identified

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Ten people who were killed in a stampede at the kulkhwani of former Chittagong mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury have been identified.

The bodies were handed over to the respective families on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were known as Dipankar Rahul, 23, son of Sanatan Das of Boroitoli area under Chakaria upazila and student of Chittagong University's Department of History,  Krisnapad Das, 35, son of late Roycharan Das of Uttar Kattoli, Sudhir Das, 50, son of Lal Das of Patharghata Madyamparha under the city's Kotwali Police Station, Prodeep Talukdar, 55, son of Monoranjan Talukdar of Gosaildanga, Ashish Borua, 38, resident of Noaparha in Raujan, Jhantu Das, 45, son of Binod Bihari Das of the city Jamal Khan by-lane, Dhona Shil, 50, son of Manindra Shil, and Titu Das, 30, of Boilchhari under Banshkhali,  Liton Dev, 50, son of Prakriti Ranjan Dev of Mohsen Awlia village of Anowara and Alok Bhoumik, 35, son of Chandra Mohon Boumik of Chhto Kumira area under Sitakunda upazila.

Md Hamid, Nayek of Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) police outpost, confirmed identities of the deceased.

It may be mentioned that ten people died in a stampede at the kulkhwani of former Chittagong mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury.

The shocking incident took place at Rima Convention Centre in Chittagong city’s Jamal Khan area around 2:00pm on Monday.
