10,000 doctors to be appointed before election: Nasim

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said that around 10,000 physicians will be appointed ahead of the next general election.

He said, “The government is providing health services door to door elsewhere of the country. There was a crisis of nurses. But in the last few years, we appointed 10 to 15 thousand nurses. Now there is a crisis of physicians in upazila level. For this, we will appoint around 10 thousand doctors ahead of the next parliament election.”

The Minister said this while exchanging views with physicians of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Tuesday.

Nasim said, “There are nearly 16,000 community clinics running across the country. Besides, more than a thousand model clinics have been set up. Poor people are taking health services there. We also ensured health services for 10 lakh Rohingya people fled from Myanmar. Now Bangladesh has become a model in ensuring health services.”
