12 dead as bus smashes three-wheeler in Gopalganj

Gopalganj Correspondent: At least 12 people including women and children were killed and 14 others injured as a bus collided head-on with a three-wheeler at Haridaspur in the district town on Dhaka-Khulna highway on Thursday evening.

The deceased could not be known immediately.

Gopalganj Fire Service Inspector Md Rubel and Golam Faruk, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said the ‘Golden Line’ bus crashed into the three-wheeler around 5:45pm, leaving the 12 people dead on the spot and 14 others injured.

Being informed, police and fire service workers rushed to the spot and sent the deceased and injured to Gopalganj general hospital after recovery.

Deputy Commissioner Mokhlesur Rahman Sarker and Superintendent of police Saidur Rahman Khan visited the accident site and hospital.

Police said the death toll in the crash may increase.
