Jhenidah Correspondent: At least 17 plastic containers of explosives have been recovered from ‘Thanthania Para militant den’ in Porahati village under Sadar upazila of the district after conducting a drive there.

Confirming the matter, Md Didar Ahmed, DIG of Khulna Range, said at least 17 plastic containers of explosives, seven rounds of bullets, 15 jihadi books, a magazine and a foreign made pistol were recovered from a house of that militant den.

Besides, two powerful bombs were also destroyed, he added.

He said details in this regard will be disclosed later at a press briefing.

Earlier in the day, police's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit resumed the operation codenamed "South Paw", which was suspended due to bad weather and darkness of night yesterday, at the militant hideout.

It was delayed to resume the operation due to incessant rain although it was supposed to begin at 7:00am on Saturday. However, the operation began around 9:30am.

Briefing reporters about the operation yesterday at around 10:30pm, Didar Ahmed said the law enforcers surrounded a house of the Porahati village suspecting it to be a militant hideout since 6:00pm. The house is owned by Abdullah of that village.

During the operation yesterday, an IED, three suicidal vests, a pistol, a pressure cooker bomb and 20 containers filled with explosives were recovered from the hideout.
