2 Max Hospital doctors fired

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Max Hospital authority has sacked its two physicians due to their negligence in the treatment of minor girl Raifa Khan that caused her death.

The two physicians are Dr Debashish Sengupta and Dr Shuvra Deb.

Dr Md Liakat Ali Khan, managing director of the hospital, confirmed the matter to risingbd.com on Saturday.

The hospital authorities took the decision after the probe body, formed by the government to investigate the death of Raifa Khan, found the evidence of negligence in her treatment, Liakat Ali Khan said.

Besides, the authorities decided not to call child specialist Dr Bidhan Roy Chowdhury to the hospital to avail of his service.

Raifa Khan, 3, daughter of Rubel Khan, staff reporter of vernacular daily the Daily Samakal, died due to wrong treatment at Max Hospital in the port city on the early morning of June 29.

The Health Ministry formed the investigation committee on June 30 with Chattogram Civil Surgeon Azizur Rahman Siddique as its head.
