2 SCC councilors suspended

Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: The Local Government Ministry has temporarily suspended two councilors of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC).

The gazette in this regard reached at SCC on Tuesday afternoon.

The suspended councilors are Farhad Chowdhury Shamim and Dinar Khan Hasu, councilors of ward no. 6 and 19 respectively.

Enamul Habib, chief executive officer of SCC, confirmed the news.

However, he could not tell why they were suspended.

Sources said Farhad and Dinar were charge sheeted in cases filed for subversive activities. As they were charge sheeted in cases in court, the Local Government Ministry suspended them temporarily.

When asked, Farhad Shamim Chowdhury said he would appeal to High Court (HC) against the measure.
