Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Two jhut (garment factory waste) godowns were gutted in a fire that broke out in Dewliabari area under Gazipur City Corporation early Monday.
Kaliakoir Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Official Md Kabirul Islam said: “The fire originated from traders Mahfuj and Ujjal Mia’s jhut godowns around 3:00am.”
Four fire fighters’ units from Kaliakoir and Joydevpur stations rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after 5:30 hours of frantic efforts.
The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately and, no causalities were reported, the official said.
