2 killed, 5 injured in truck-tempo collision in Gazipur

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Two people were killed and five others injured as a tempo carrying them collided head-on with a truck in Bhogra area of Gazipur district on Thursday noon.

The deceased could not be identified immediately. The injured are Ashraful Islam, 25, son of Shahjahan Mia; Abul Hashem, 34, son of Nabi Newaj; Masud, 35, son of Idris Ali; Yunus Talukdar, 32 and Rubel, 35, all from Gazipur city corporation area.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Abdus Salam of Nawjor highway police outpost said a tempo carrying seven passengers collided head-on with a truck in Bhogra area of Gazipur district around 12:30pm, leaving all the passengers critically injured.

Later, the injured were sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, the police official said.

Pronoy Bhusan Das, resident physician of the hospital, said the seven people were admitted to the hospital when two of them were dead and five others injured.
