200 educational institutions closed in Bhabodaho area

Staff Correspondent,Jessore: About 200 educational institutions have been closed due to flood water and waterlogging in Bhabodaho area of Monirampur, Abhaynagar and Keshabpur upazilas of the district.


Students and guardians are very worried as education activities have been stopped.


According to district education office sources,  a total of 400 educational institutions of Monirampur, Abhaynagar and Keshabpur upazilas have been submerged by flood waters.


About 227 educational institutions have been submerged in Keshabpur upazila. Of which, 15 institutions are being used as shelter and 5000 people have taken shelter there.


In Monirampur, a total of 100 institutions have been closed due to flood water and waterlogging. In Abhaynagar upazila, a total of 30 institutions have been closed.


Vast areas in the district have been inundated due to the torrential rainfall some days ago. Earlier, due to the August 11 rainfall, thousands of ponds, fish enclosures and marshes were washed away and huge fields of vegetables and croplands were flooded. Thousands of flood-affected people took shelter on high roads.
