25 students fall sick after taking deworming tablets

Gopalganj Correspondent: At least 25 students fell sick allegedly after taking government-supplied deworming tablets at Boultola Government Primary School of the district's sadar upazila on Sunday.

Headmistress of the school Aparna Biswas said the students fell dizziness, stomach pain after vomiting after they had been given deworming tablets on the second day of the programmes.

The sick students were immediately taken to local hospitals and clinic including the sadar Hospital.

The school was declared closed after the incident, the authority said.

Gopalganj Civil Surgeon Dr. Shafiqul Alam Chowdhury confirmed the news.

He said total of 174 students of the school were given deworming tablets. Of them, 25 students fell sick. Being informed, a medical team was sent there immediately.

The problem might be caused temporarily for taking tablets in empty stomach. There was nothing to be concerned.
