3 Rohingya ‘robbers’ killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: The Rohingya ‘robbers’ were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police in district’s Teknaf upazila on Friday midnight.

The gunfight took place in hilly area of Nayapara Rohingya camp at Hnila union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Nur Alam, 23, Mohammad Jubayer, 20, and Hamid Ullah, 20.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station Pradip Kumar Das said that on information that a gang of robbers was taking preparations in the hilly area, a team of police conducted a drive there.

Sensing the presence of police, the gang members opened fire, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

After the gunfight, police rescued three suspected robbers with bullet injuries from the spot. Later, they died on the way to hospital.

Three policemen were injured in the gunfight, the OC also said.
