Bagerhat Correspondent: Forest department has suspended twelve people including its three officials for their alleged involvement in smuggling Sundari trees (the mangrove species Heritiera fomes) of Sundarbans.
Khulna circle forest conservator in charge Amir Hossain Chowdhury suspended them.
The suspended are-- Chadpai range Jongra camp forest officer of Sundarban east division Abdur Rouf, forest guard Bidhan Chandra Haldar, Ali Ahammad, boatman Sultan Hawladar, Shoronkhola range forest officer Amjad Hossain, Mobarok Hossain, forest guard Harun-Or-Rashid, Abdul Awal, Badshah Sheikh, Abdur Rashid Shikdar, boatman Selim Sardar and Nurul Islam.
The suspension was confirmed by Khulna circle forest conservator in charge Amir Hossain Chowdhury over phone on Monday noon.
