3 held over girl gang-raped incident

Staff Correspondent: Law enforcers have arrested three people in connection with raping a 17-year old female shop worker in city’s Uttara.

The girl, employee of a super shop at Rajlaxmi Complex in Uttara, alleged that one of her fellow colleagues and his three cohorts raped her on Thursday night.

The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Arif, prime accused of the rape incident on Friday from city while police arrested two of his cohorts.

Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud, Commanding Officer of RAB-1, said Arif was arrested from his house in Dakshinkhan area in city on Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Uttara Paschim Police Station officer in-charge Ali Hossain told risingbd.com that the other two were arrested from Uttara on Friday night. He said police are conducting drives to nab the other accused.

The law enforcers will take action against the arrestees after getting the forensic tests reports of the victim.

The victim`s brother-in-law Billal Hossain said that the girl, who had been working in the shop for around one month, was forcibly taken to an under-construction building by her colleague Arief and his three associates when she was returning home after work around 8:30pm.

They threatened her with death and raped her by turns on the first floor of the building. Around two hours later, the girl jumped off the building, and reached home with the help of a rickshaw puller, he said.

The victim, who passed the SSC exam this year, came to Dhaka from Barisal two months ago in search of a job. She has been staying at her sister`s house in Uttara`s sector-12.

After hearing everything from the girl, the family took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 3:00am on Thursday night.
