Gaibandha Correspondent: Four cops were closed as an accused was killed by truck crash while fleeing from police custody at the district's Polashbari.

Khairul Alam, senior assistant superintendent of police (SASP) of Gaibandha, confirmed the news on Friday night.

The closed police men are Sub-Inspector (SI) Razu Ahmed and Constable Shahanur Rahman, Mustafizar Rahman and Nargis Begum of Sundarganj police station. They were closed to police lines for their negligence in performing duties, according to him.

Mahmudul Alam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Polashbari Police Station, said Ripon Chandra, 22, son of Bablu Chandra of Sundarganj's Hatia village, abducted a neighbouring girl on Monday. Later, the girl's family filed an abduction case over the incident.

"The girl was rescued and Ripon arrested from a residence of Kahalu in Bogra early Thursday. They were being taken to Sundarganj by a microbus. On way, cops stopped the microbus as Ripon wanted to respond to the call of nature. So, he was got down from the microbus. Then a speedy truck ran over him as he tried to flee in hand-cuffed.
