4 injured in Ctg gas cylinder blast

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Four people sustained burn injuries as a gas cylinder blasted at a multi-storey building in New Mooring area of Chittagong city early Sunday.

The incident took place at seven-storey building owned by one Arman of New Mooring Boba colony.

The injured are Sentu, 35, Riaz, 34, Mohammad Farid, 30 and Mukta, 22.

All the victims are undergoing treatment at the burn unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

Confirming the incident, Sayeed Ahsanul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of EPZ police station, said the gas cylinder, kept in a storeroom on the ground floor of a seven-storied building, exploded at dead of night when the tenants of the building gathered there to cook meal due to low pressure of gas in the area. The blast left the four people injured.

One of the burn victims was stated to be critical, said the OC.
