4 kids drown in pond in Natore

Natore Correspondent: Four children of two families have drowned in a pond in Gurudaspur upazila of the district on Saturday night.

The incident took place at a place named Bablatola at the Biyaghat area of the upazila around 8:30pm.

The deceased were identified as Rabbani Hossain, 3 and Meghla Khatun, 7, two children of one Minto Hossain from Bablatola area and Ratri Khatun, 6 and Sondha Khatun, 8, two daughters of one Shimul Hossain from the same area.

Gurudaspur Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Dilip Kumar Das said the four children went to play on the bank of a pond near their house on Saturday afternoon. The family members of the children started searching for them as they did not return to their homes even after the evening.

Later, locals found a child floating in the water around 8:30pm and recovered the child.

The bodies of three other children were also recovered from the pond after a frantic search.

On information, police have rushed to the spot.
