5 brothers including Jubo League leader held in Pekua

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has held five brothers including a Jubo League leader with firearms, bullets, yaba and cash money.

They were detained on Sunday morning from their home in the upazila’s Chowmohoni.

The detainees are Jahangir Alam (45), son of Ramij Ahmed at Chowmohoni of Pekua Sadar union, Mohammad Alamgir (42), Mohammad Ajom (40), Mohammad Kaium (38) and Osman Sarwar Bappi (24).

Jahangir Alam is a member of the Cox's Bazar District Council and president of Juba League's Pekua upazila unit.

RAB-7 Cox’s Bazar unit chief Major Ruhul Amin said acting on a tip-off, Alam's home was raided and seized three locally-made firearms, 10 rounds of bullets, a packet containing yaba and about Tk 17 lakh in cash.

Alam and his brothers are named in several cases filed with the local police, added the RAB officer.
