5 cops among 6 hurt in Khulna gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: At least seven people including five police were injured in a gunfight with terrorist at Balum Math area of the district town early Monday.

The injured are - Khulna Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shafikul Islam, Sub-Inspector Kamal Uddin, SI Abdul Hannan, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mamun Hossain, ASI Suvendu Kumar Paul and terrorist Azizul Islam alias, 23.

Police claimed that they went to the area to recover fire arms with Azizul Islam around 2:30am. At one stage, the cohorts of Azizul opened fire aiming police which triggered the clash.

Later, police recovered a 9MM pistol and two rounds bullets from the spot. Meanwhile, police also recaptured Azizul with bullet injury.

Confirming the matter, Khulna Sadar police station OC Shafiqul Islam told risingbd.com Azizul was wanted in seven cases including a murder case.
