9 arrested with drug materials at Chuadanga border

Chuadanga Correspondent: Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) arrested nine people along with drug materials from border area of the district's Damurhuda upazila on Wednesday morning.

The arrestees are Mahabul, 32, son of Azizul of Pirkullapur village of the upazila, Mohsin, 25, son of Manik Mondal of Thakurpur, Jhantu Mia, 30, son of Ayub Ali of Munshipur, Atiar Rahman, son of Jalim Uddin of the same village, Helal, 30, son of Abdul Karim of Joynagar, Mahabul, 28, son of Dilu Mondal of the same village, Tipu Sultan, 30, son of Bazlul Islam of Akandabaria, Ramzan Ali, 25, son of Dayal Fakir of Hudaparha, and Rashid, 28, son of Rahman of the same village of the same upazila.

BGB sources said acting on a tip off, BGB conducted drives at different border areas of Thakurpur, Hudaparha, Munshipur, Nimtola and Darshana and arrested nine smugglers along with 217 bottles of Phensedyl.

Abu Jihad, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damurhuda Model Police Station, said the arrestees along with the seized drug materials were handed over to police. A ca se has been filed in this connection.
