AL infighting leaves two killed in Comilla

Comilla Correspondent: Two rival factions of ruling Awami League (AL) locked into a clash over establishing supremacy at Muradnagar in Comilla Tuesday night, leaving two AL activists killed and ten others injured.

The deceased were identified as Faruque, 40, and Saidur, 45. Both of them are members of Bangladesh Awami League.

Muradnagar police officer-in-charge (OC) SM Bodiuzzaman said the clash ensued at the village of Rahimpur between two rival groups: one led by Union Council member Ali Ashraf and other by Shah Alam Kobir.

The OC said followers of Ali Ashraf and Shah Alam Kobir locked into a clash at about 10:30pm on Tuesday over establishing supremacy at the localities. At one stage they stabbed Faruque and Saidur and left them critically injured.

Later, they were taken to Muradnagar Health Complex, where duty doctors declared them dead, the OC said.

10 others were also injured during the clash.
