‘Armed hijacker tries to enter aircraft’s cockpit’

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: An armed hijacker made a failed attempt to enter the cockpit of a Biman Bangladesh flight scheduled to fly for Dubai from Dhaka via Chattogram on Sunday evening.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Mohibul Haque came up with the information following a hijack attempt of the Boeing 777-800 aircraft.

“An armed hijacker was trying to enter the cockpit of BG-147 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines soon after it took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. But he could not enter the cockpit. Sensing the matter, the pilot of the aircraft made an emergency landing at the airport,” Mohibul Haque said.

All the passengers were evacuated from the aircraft after its landing, he added.
