Arrest warrant issued against Khaleda in Comilla

Comilla Correspondent: A Comilla court issued arrest warrant against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in a case filed for torching bus in Comilla that killed eight people.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Joynab Begum passed the order on Tuesday noon.

The court also issued arrest warrant against 54 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists in the same case.

Confirming the matter, lawyer advocate Nazmus Sadat said that the issued the arrest warrant after hearing in the case.

According to the case statement, On February 3, 2015, some eight people were killed and at least 20 people were injured when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus at Jogmohanpur in Chouddagram upazila during BNP-led alliance’s movement.

Following the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) Nururzzaman Hawladar filed two separate cases on February 4 under Explosive Substances Act and Special Act.

Later, on November 16, Firoz Ahmed, inspector of detective branch of police (DB) and also investigation officer of the case, submitted chargesheet against 77 persons including BNP Chief Khaleda Zia, BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Jamaat leader Dr Syed Abdullah Taher and others.
