Auto-rickshaw kills woman in Kalmakanda

Netrokona Correspondent: A woman was killed and her husband and daughter were injured critically in a collision between two auto-rickshaws at Doarikona cemetery area of the district's Kalmakanda sadar upazila on Friday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Salma Akter, 28, wife of Rafiqul Islam of Kalikapur village of the district's Durgapur upazila, Rafiqul and his baby girl Rozina Akter were also injured in the incident.

Locals and police said Rafiqul along with his wife and daughter was going to a relative's house at Kalmakanda by an auto-rickshaw. The auto-rickshaw overturned and plunged into a roadside ditch after it had collided with another auto-rickshaw at Doarikona cemetery area at Friday afternoon, leaving the three critically injured.

They were immediately rushed to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex where duty doctors declared Salma dead, sources added.

Md Abu Bakar Siddique, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kalmakanda Police Station, confirmed the news.
