BCL president among 5 suspended at MBSTU

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: The authority has suspended five leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League for allegedly assaulting teachers at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail.

The suspended BCL leaders are - the university BCL unit president Sajib Talukdar, Vice-president Imran Mia, Adrita Panna, joint secretary Jabir Iqbal and Yeasir Arafat.

Wishing anonymity, a student of the university said the university in a regent board meeting, the authority decided to suspend the BCL leaders on Monday evening.

There is an allegation that BCL leaders assaulted teachers the when a student was stopped from taking an exam on Sunday after she failed a previous test.

Following the incident, as many as 56 teachers of the University resigned from different academic and administrative posts in protest against alleged assault on their colleagues by Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders.
