BGB deployed again in St. Martin’s island

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: The members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at Saint Martin’s Island in Teknaf upazila in Coxs Bazar from Sunday noon.

BGB troops were deployed in the St. Martin's Island, a small island in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, for the security of the island till 1997. Later, Coast Guard members were given the charge of the island. From Sunday noon, BGB members again started patrolling the St. Martin's Island with heavy weapons, said Sarkar Mohammad Mustafizur Rahman, captain of Teknaf's BGB-2.

“Adequate BGB members have been deployed in the island at the directive of the government. The number will be increased further,” he said.
