Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: BNP central leader and former parliamentarian Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury was sent to jail in a case filed over allegedly threatening to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Chattogram Senior Judicial Magistrate Joyanti Rani Roy on Thursday passed the order rejecting the bail petition of the BNP leader.

At a programme in Fatikchari upzila of Chattogram on May 29, Giasuddin Quader said, ‘There was no one to say Inna Lillahi Wa Innailayhi Raji’un after the death of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzubur Rahman. The Prime Minister’s fate will be even more dangerous. She has to take the responsibility of those being killed in the name of crossfire.’

He also described the Prime Minister as a threat to the country.

Later, Fatikchhari upazila Awami League president Jamal Uddin filed a case on May 30 against him on charge of threatening the Prime Minister to kill.
