Barrister Mainul taken to Rangpur jail

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Former caretaker government adviser Barrister Mainul Husein has been taken to Rangpur Central Jail.

He was taken there around 5:00pm on the road to produce before a court for bail hearing in a case set for Sunday.

The hearing is scheduled to be held at Rangpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Court.

Amzad Hossain, Jailer of Rangpur Central Jail, confirmed the news to risingbd.

Earlier, several lawyers of Jatiyabadi Lawyers Forum filed a petition seeking bail on October 25. Hearing was not held on the day as documents did not reach.

Mili Maya Begum, wife of human rights activist of the city Suruj Mia, filed the defamation case against Barrister Mainul Husein on October 22.

Judge Arifa Yeasmin Mukta took the case in cognisance and issued arrest warrants against him. In the night of the day, he was arrested in Dhaka.

Barrister Mainul was given first division cell in the court in line with the court order, said Jailer Amzad Hossain.
