'Block raid' ends in Rajshahi

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: The 'block raid' which was conducted at Hargram area under Rajpara Police Station in the city ended around 7:30pm on Tuesday.

However, nobody was held and nothing was seized in the raid which began in the morning suspecting the presence of militants there.

Members of Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) and Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit joined the raid alongside the police.

Towhidul Arif, Additional Police Super of Rajshahi (Police Bureau of Investigation) confirmed the matter to risingbd.com after coming out of the surrounded area.

The law enforcers had been cordoning off the entire area suspecting a militant den there since 9:00am on Tuesday, reports our correspondent from the spot.

Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Iftakhayer Alam and Rajpara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Amanullah told risingbd.com over phone that the 'block raid' was being carried out surrounding the area, not targeting any specific house. The law enforcers were searching for almost every house.
