Case filed against 250 jute mill workers in Khulna

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: A case has been filed against 250 people in connection with Thursday’s clash between police and jute mill workers at Natun Rasata intersection in Daulatpur upazila on the last day of the their 72-hour strike.
Sub-inspector (SI) of Daulatpur Police Station Amit Kumar Bagchi filed the case on Thursday night for carrying out attacks on police that left four policemen injured.
Earlier, four policemen including traffic inspector Abul Bashar were injured in a clash between police and jute mill workers in Daulatpur upazila on the last day of the 72-hour strike enforced by the workers of nine state owned jute mills on Thursday, said Kazi Mostaq Ahmed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police station.
The jute mill workers started their 72-hour strike by blocking roads and rail routes from 8:00 am-12:00 pm to press home their nine-point demand including implementation of the wage commission from Tuesday last.
