Chattogram landslide claims 3 more lives

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Three more people including a woman and her daughter were killed in landslides in Firoz Shah Colony area of Chattogram early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Nurjahan Begum, 45, her 2-year-old daughter Faijunnesa and Johra Begum, 70.

Sub-inspector Lutfar Rahman of Akbar Shah police station said that the incident took place around 2:30am after heavy rains influenced by Cyclone Titli triggered landslides. Later, on information, fire service units rushed to the spot and recovered three bodies.

Earlier in the day, another person died after a wall collapsed on his house in Panchlaish area of Chattogram around 2:30am.

Fire service officials said the district administration authority alerted the locals to leave the risk-prone area. But, they did not pay hid to the directions.
