Child among 10 sustain bullet injuries in Noakhali AL infighting

Noakhali Correspondent: At least 10 people including a child sustained bullet injuries in a clash between two factions of the ruling Awami League (AL) at Khalifarhat in Noakhali sadar upazila on Tuesday.

The incident took place over establishing supremacy in the area. The injured were admitted to Noakhali General Hospital.

According to police and locals, there had been a long dispute between the groups of sadar upazila AL leader Shipon and Juba League leader Jahir member over establishing supremacy in the area. Some days earlier, Jahir member had sustained bullet injuries. In a case filed in this regard, three supporters of Shipon were sent to jail, rejecting their bail petitions. As a sequel to that, supporters of Shipon swooped on Jahir member’s house, triggering a clash between the two groups. In the incident, 10 people including a child received bullet injuries.

The bullet-hit injured were known as Solaiman, 28, Sumon, 23, Jasim, 45, Ohid Ullah, 35, Sabuj, 23, Masud, 35, Monir Ahmed, 55, Sabuj, 22, Jaker, 30 and Shanto, 12.
