Child killed after abduction, 3 arrested

Jamalpur Correspondent: A six-year-old boy was killed after being abducted at sadar upazila of the district. Police arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the incident.

Labib, son of expatriate Yousuf Ali of Banderbari area of Gopalpur of the upazila, had been missing since 5:00pm on Thursday.

Later, relatives searched for him at different places and announced the missing news through loudspeaker in the area.

Amidst searching efforts, an unknown person made a call on mobile phone and claimed Labib is in Haluaghat of Mymensingh. He demanded ransom for his release.

After the phone call, Labib’s mother Lovely filed a general diary (GD) in this connection with Narundi police investigation centre.

Tracking the cell phone call, police with the help of locals held one neighbour Faisal. They interrogated him over Labib.

At one stage, he confessed to killing him. Later, police recovered the body from beside a paddy field near his house and sent it to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police held two more people for their alleged involvement in the incident. They were known as Babul, 24, Sanowar, 26.

Being informed, Delwar Hossain, superintendent of police (SP) in Jamalpur, visited the spot.

He said, “The culprits were arrested tracking the cell phone call. Later, the body of Labib was recovered on based on their confessional statement. Filing a murder case in this connection is under process.”
