College girl killed at Dhamrai

Staff Correspondent, Savar: A college girl has been killed by miscreants after taking her by phone call at Dhamrai of Savar, the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.

Police on Sunday morning recovered the body from a maize field of Barhpaikha village of Savar upazila.

The deceased was identified as Jobeda Akter, 22, daughter of Joynal Mia of the village and a student of Khandokar Delowar Hossain College in Manikganj.

Sources said Jobeda went out home after getting a mobile phone call around 8:30pm on Saturday. Family members searched her at different places of the area as she did not return for a long time.

Later, locals noticed her body in a maize field on Sunday morning and informed it to police, the sources added.

The girl was firstly strangulated to death. Later, miscreants chopped her to confirm the death, police said.

Rezaul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhamrai Police Station, said the body was sent to morgue for autopsy. Work for identifying killers through scrutinizing her phone call list has already been started. They will be arrested soon.
