Anti-militancy drive in Tongi, 3 held

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: Police have launched an anti-militancy drive at different hostels and houses near Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa in Tongi of Gazipur on Thursday evening.

Three people have been detained during the drive.

The detainees are-- Towhidul Islam, 18, Abdullah, 30 and Anisur Rahman, 42.

Towhidul Islam is said to be a first year student of Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasa.

The drive began in the area as part of the anti-militancy drives across the country, said Russel Sheikh, additional police super of Gazipur.

He said, "It is their routine work. They will continue the anti-militancy drives."

Officer-in-charge of Tongi Police Station Firoz Talukdar said the drive began in the area around 5:00pm. More than a hundred police took part in the drive. Three suspected people have been detained for questioning during the drive.
