Moulvibazar Correspondent: Police's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) members are preparing to resume anti-militancy drive codenamed “Operation Maximus” at a militant hideout in Borohat of Moulvibazar.

Earlier on Friday evening, the law enforcers suspended the drive due to bad weather. Soon after the suspension, gunshots were heard near the militant den.

Monirul Islam, additional commissioner and chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (CTTC) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told reporters on Friday evening that: “We assume that there is a huge amount of explosives in their possession. This operation is comparatively a complex one as the building is comprised of several rooms and there is another under-construction building beside it. The operation has been suspended for today as darkness descended. The operation will resume again tomorrow morning (Saturday)."

The CTTC chief said several militants are holed up in the building.

During the operation yesterday, a policeman named constable Koisar suffered injuries in a blast believed to have been caused by bombs hurled by the holed up militants. Koisar was taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital.
