Couple among three killed as bus turns turtle

Staff Correspondent, Chittagong: Three people including a couple were killed and nine others were injured as a passenger bus turned turtle at Keranihat Nayakhal area on Chittagong-Cox's Bazaar highway of the district's Satkaniya upazila on Friday noon.

The deceased were identified as Gias Uddin, 30, his wife Jahan Chowdhury, 23 and one Azizul Islam, 52.

Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station, confirmed the news.

Police and local sources said a Challenger Paribahan bus turned turtle at Keranihat Nayakhal area as its driver lost the control over the steering, leaving the couple killed on the spot. Another was killed after he was taken to hospital.

All the injured were also admitted to different local hospitals. Several of them are in critical condition, he added.
