Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: Two suspected drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Panerchhora area of Ramu upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased could not be known immediately.

RAB-7 Cox's Bazar Camp Company Commander Maj Mehedi Hasan confirmed that the gunfight took place at Panerchhora area around 9:30am.

Maj Mehedi Hasan said a team of RAB was carrying out a search operation at different vehicles setting up a mobile check post in Panerchhora area of Ramu upazila.

At one stage of the search, the elite force signaled a van carrying oil to stop but the vehicle did not stop. The RAB members chased the van while it was trying to flee the scene defying the signal. Later, drug traders fired bullets at RAB men which forced the elite force to retaliate, leaving two drug traders bullet-hit.
