DU student Khalid still missing in Rupsa

Staff Correspondent, Khulna: Dhaka University (DU) student Khalid Hassan, 20, who drowned in the Rupsa river from a trawler, is still missing.

Divers could not trace him out till Friday noon. The rescue operation has been stopped because of strong current in the river due to bad weather.

Khalid Hassan, son of Jalal Uddin of Shariatpur and a third-year student of DU's Pharmacy Department. He drowned in Rupsa from a trawler while crossing the river around 8:00pm on Thursday.

Praban Kumar Biswas, Station Master of Khulna Sadar Fire Service, said the divers could not reach to the soil in the river due to strong current. They are being flooded by the current. Besides, the rescue operation is being kept stopped due to bad weather.

However, Khalid's relatives are continuing their rescue activities in the river.

Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupsa Police Station, confirmed the news.
