Dacoit leader Murad killed in M’singh ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Mymensingh: A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Bharadoba Uthura under Bhaluka upazila of the district early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Murad Akanda, 30.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive near Hijack Bridge in the area around 2:00 am, said Firoz Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Police Station.
Sensing their presence, the criminals opened fire on police forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
After the gunfight, police recovered the body of Murad and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Two policemen were also injured during the gunfight, said police.
The injured policemen are Sub-Inspector (SI) Monir Hossain of Bhaluka Police Station and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Saiful Islam of the police station.
Murad was wanted in five criminal cases.
