Dhaka-New York flights soon

DHAKA, Aug 18: Bangladesh and the United States (US) have initialed a bilateral air service agreement, which will help Bangladesh Biman resume flights on the Dhaka-New York route.
Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) Air Vice Marshal Mahmud Hossain and Director of Navigation Negotiation of the Department of State of the US Windle Albright inked the agreement on behalf of their respective sides on August 15, a CAAB release said here Sunday.
Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Khurshed Alam Chowdhury led a six-member Bangladesh delegation in Washington DC. Bangladesh Ambassador in the US Akramul Quader was present on the occasion. Besides, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the two sides.
“The initial of the bilateral air service agreement is a one step forward towards resuming the long-awaited Dhaka-New York flights,” Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt Col (retd) Faruk Khan said.
“I hope that there would be an initial with Canada like the US. The Bangladesh delegation already left the US for Canada for this purpose."
