Drive to evict risky settlements in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: District administration has carried out a drive to evict people who are living riskily on the foot of various hills in Cox’s Bazar in order to avert further accidents due to landslides.

The eviction drive was conducted in Boidyaghona area of the city on Sunday. The drive started at 2:00pm and continued till 5:00pm.

Executive magistrate of Cox’s Bazar district administration Imrul Kayes said over four hundred settlements in the area have been declared as risky. Of them, over 150 settlements are the riskiest.

More than 10 risky settlements have been evicted during today’s drive and the electricity connection was also disconnected, he said.

All risky settlements will be evicted by turns, Imrul Kayes added.
