‘Drug addicted cops will undergo dope test’

Staff Correspondent, Rangpur: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Rangpur Range) Khandaker Golam Faruk said cops who are drug addicted will undergo dope test. Those to be found positive in the reports will be suspended from their jobs.

The DIG came up with the disclosure in a press conference held at his office about law and order situation during the Ramadan on Wednesday.

Golam Faruk said, “Police had information that some dishonest cops, politicians, public servants and employees are involved in drug addiction and peddling. Legal actions will be taken soon after identifying them. Zero telerence policy will be materialised against the drug.”

“Close circuit (CC) cameras will be set up at every markets of Rangpur City Corporation during the Ramand and the Eid. Law enforcers will remain alert against extortion and eve-teasing. Stern actions will also be taken against the food adulteration,” he added.

“Those who have no license will not be allowed to drive cars. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Police will remain alert on highways so that no incident of extortion will occur,” he said.

The DIG said, “Machines will be set up in big margets to detect fake notes to prevent forgery. Police will help the person who will deal a huge amount of money. Police will take all necessary steps to keep law and order situation normal during the Ramadan and the Eid.”
