Drug peddler killed in Jashore shootout

Jashore Correspondent: A drug peddler, what police say, was killed in a shootout between two groups of drug traders at Mondalgati area of the district’s sadar upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased could not be identified immediately. He, however, seemed to be aged of 30.

Cops also claimed that they recovered two kg of hemp and 200 pieces of Yaba tablets from the spot.

Police said that being informed over the shootout at around 3:30am, a team of police rushed to the spot. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, drug traders fled the scene. Later, the bullet-hit body, two kg hemp and 200 pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered from the spot.

The body was sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy, according to police.

Moklesuzzaman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, said that the youth might have been killed in a shootout happened because of their internal conflicts.
