Drug trader killed in Chuadanga ‘gunfight’

Chuadanga Correspondent: A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with police at Ujjalpur under Chuadanga Sadar upazila on Wednesday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Pappu alias Pappu Khora, 40, son of Bazlur Rahman at Akandabaria village.

Officer-in-Charge of Chuadanga Sadar Thana Delwar Hossain Khan said acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a drive there and drug traders opened fire on the police, forcing them to fire back in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.

Later, police rescued Pappu with bullet wounds and took him to Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police also recovered one shutter-gun, two bullets, four hand bombs and one sack of Phensidyl from the spot.

The OC said Pappu was a listed drug trader and wanted in six cases.
