Drug trader killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: A suspected drug trader has been killed in a gunfight with police in Nazirpara area adjacent to Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive road in Cox's Bazar.

The deceased was known as Ziaur Rahman, 35, son of Mohammad Islam, hailed from Teknaf Sadar union.

Teknaf model police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradip Kumar Das said police arrested Ziaur Rahman on Saturday evening. He was wanted in 21 case on charge of drug smuggling. Following his information, police went to the spot but, his cohorts opened fire aiming police which triggered the gunfight around 1:30am.

At one stage, police rescued the bullet Ziaur and sent him to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him.

A foreign-made pistol, three local made guns, 23 rounds of bullets and 20,000 pieces of Yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
