Drug trader killed in Kushtia gunfight

Kushtia Correspondent: A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight with police Bakapul Chardamukdia area under Bheramara upazila of the district town early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shamsuddin Sham, 38, son of late Tobarok Mia.

Bheramara police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam said acting on a tip-off that a gang of drug traders are selling drugs in the area, a police team took position in the area. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, drug traders opened fire aiming the law enforcers.

In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gunfight, leaving the drug trader injured. Later, he was taken to Bheramara Health Complex where duty doctors declared him dead.

The drug trader was wanted in eight drug cases, police claimed.
