Drug trader killed in Rajshahi gunfight

Staff Correspondent, Rajshahi: A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight between two gangs of drug smugglers in Keshabpur area under Bagha upazila border area of the district early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Ziarul Islam Kalu, 39, son of late Abdul Khalek, hailed from Pakuria village of the upazila.

Charghat Circle Senior Assistant Police Super Nur-e-Alam said two groups clashed in the area around 2:30am over establishing supremacy. On information, a team led by Police Super Sumon Deb rushed to spot and recovered the bullet-hit body of Ziarul.

Meanwhile, phensidyl, a foreign made pistol, magazine and two rounds of bullets were seized from the spot.

An additional superintendent of police among nine police officials suffered injuries during the gunfight.
