Drug trader killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent:  A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Del area of Teknaf upazila early Thursday.

The deceased could not be identified yet.

Tipped off, a team of BGB-2 conducted a drive in the area in early hours, said Major Shariful Islam Jommadar, acting commanding officer of BGB-2.

Sensing presence of the border guards, the criminals opened fire forcing the law enforcers to back fire that triggered a ‘gunfight’, leaving one bullet injury.

He was immediately taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctors declared him dead.

The BGB team also recovered 7,000 Yaba pills and two sharp weapons from the spot.
